John Carpenter, his son Cody Carpenter, and his godson Daniel Davies composed the score for the 2021 film Halloween Kills. The three have been regular collaborators since 2015 and also worked on the previous installment in the trilogy, 2018's Halloween, and the follow-up, 2022's Halloween Ends. 
For Halloween Kills, the composers modernized the iconic 1978 original theme by using a broader sonic palette and new digital techniques. This gave the music a simultaneously vintage and modern feel.
