Professor Longhair - Live On The Queen Mary
(VINYL RECORD)
Released:04/05/2019
Professor Longhair's performance on the RMS Queen Mary was for a private party hosted by Paul and Linda McCartney on March 24, 1975, to launch the Wings album Venus and Mars. This performance was recorded and later released as the highly acclaimed album Live On The Queen Mary in 1978.
The Queen Mary was permanently docked in Long Beach, California, as a hotel and museum at the time of the performance. The event was a star-studded affair with guests including George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Marvin Gaye.
The album is celebrated for capturing Professor Longhair's unique New Orleans rumba-boogie-funk piano style, which was a significant influence on other artists like Fats Domino, Allen Toussaint, and Dr. John.
